Obama’s Odd Choice

President-elect Obama’s selection of the prominent evangelical minister Rick Warren is disappointing to say the least. As much as I am delighted that Obama is headed to the White House, I can’t help but agree with what Joe Solomonese of the Human Rights Campaign says in a letter to Mr. Obama:

“We feel a deep level of disrespect when one of the architects and promoters of an anti-gay agenda is given the pulpit of your historic nomination.”

I can’t help but think that the man who fought so hard to (successfully) take away my civil rights will have broader reach and more legitimacy than ever after the inauguration. This is very sad to me.
